There are 4 options for train access to and from Heathrow to London

  • The Heathrow Express
  • Transport for London
  • The the all-new “Elizabeth Line”
  • London Underground

Of these three options, only the Elizabeth Line will take you beyond Paddington to other stations in London, but none of those stations are situated in what I would consider to be good areas to stay in London, mainly reason because they don’t offer the efficient and direct transportation to the major tourist attractions that Paddington Station does. Also, Paddington is the only station that connects to Heathrow via the aforementioned Heathrow Express which takes you to and from Heathrow to London in just 15 minutes with no stops.

The Heathrow Express will whisk you to and from Heathrow Airport non-stop in just 15 minutes.

Formerly The Heathrow Connect, this train takes approximately 30 minutes to Paddington and includes 5 stops.

(service beginning Autumn 2022)

The Elizabeth Line will run Paddington to Heathrow every 30 minutes, with a journey time of approximately 35 minutes. Free shuttle services run from Terminals 2&3 to Terminal 5 with a journey time of 6 minutes.

A total of six Elizabeth line trains per hour will serve Heathrow Terminals. Four will go to Terminals 2, 3 and 4 and two will go to Terminals 2, 3 and 5. This will also increase services to Ealing Broadway, Southall and Hayes & Harlington.

You can travel to and from Heathrow using the London Underground via the Piccadilly Line, changing at Earl’s Court using the District Line to Paddington. This journey is around 15 stops (depending on which Heathrow Terminal you are traveling from) and takes approximately 50 minutes.
